Funding a free and professional Shakespeare festival
represents a challenge unmatched by traditional subscription
theatres. Unlike other theatres, the Festival has no ticket
sales or subscription base with which to underwrite its
production costs. Each year the Kentucky Shakespeare
Festival must raise 81% of the operating budget through
donations.
