performances at 8:00 p.m., Kentucky Shakespeare Festival
will be featuring a celebration of Scottish culture.
The
Scottish Society of Louisville
will host a
children's activities booth, including arts and crafts,
traditional Scottish athletics for children and adults
and an information booth on the true history behind the
story of Shakespeare's Macbeth.
The Scottish Dancing Society will demonstrate social
dances in the Scottish tradition, and a parade with the
Louisville Pipe Band will offer patrons an earful of
authentic bagpipe music. Join us for this exciting and
unique celebration!
The Scottish Society of
Louisville is a not-for-profit corporation founded in
Kentucky in 1993 with the purpose of preserving and
promoting Scottish culture, history and hertiage in the
community. The Society sponsors a numbers of annual
events: the Kirkin of the Tartans in October, St.
Andrew's Day in November, and Burns Night in January. It
also participates in regional festivals and games such as
the Kentucky Scottish Weekend at Carrolton, the Glasgow
Highland Game and the Columbus(Indiana) Scottish
Festival. Society meetings are held the 4th Tuesday of
each month at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 2223
Woodbourne Avenue, 7:30 p.m. All are invited.
