Summer Education Programs

Camp Shakespeare is a fun filled two-week day camp for youth ages 8-14. New friendships are forged as campers explore all aspects of theatre through daily classes, games, and rehearsals. Campers build their own Shakespearean production to be performed as the culminating event of the camp for an audience of family, friends and public prior to the Festival’s professional production. Performances are held the final Friday or Saturday of each camp.

In their Voice and Movement class, young actors gain confidence and learn to use the power and expressiveness of their voices and bodies when conveying thoughts, moods and character traits. Campers exercise their imagination in Design as they collaborate on ideas and construction of costumes and props. They learn control and cooperation through Combat and Dance. They gain insight with Renaissance History.

“Be great in act, as you have been in thought.”
William Shakespeare

“Chill with Will” this summer in a supportive environment while learning skills, making friends and having fun.

An added bonus will be an in-depth discussion with the professional company from the 2006 Kentucky Shakespeare Festival production of As You Like It.
