MACBETH

“Something wicked this way came…”

1998 marked the first summer tour in the Festival’s 38-year history. Kentucky Shakespeare Festival took Macbeth on tour to The Louisville Zoo and The Clifton Center, in addition to spending three weeks at home in historic Old Louisville's Central Park.

The tour was a success!

Over 9,500 people gathered to see the dark tale of a man whose decision to murder his King unleashes the forces of darkness.

In fact, those who attended the performances at The Clifton Center should be proud to know they attended the first–ever indoor summer season production by the Festival.

In addition, the Festival toured “Shakespeare UnPlugged — A Concert Reading Series” to local bookstores around Louisville for a second year. Bard–lovers from throughout the city had the opportunity to “hear the play” the way the Elizabethans would have. Participants enjoyed the intimate setting and chance to talk to the actors after the performance. A wonderful compliment to the live production, the Shakespeare UnPlugged Series will be back next year — no doubt!

Kentucky Shakespeare Festival would like to thank its corporate sponsors for their part in a great summer!
Thank you :   Tricon, Producer; Winn–Dixie, Co–Producer; and Brown, Todd & Heyburn; Performance Sponsor.
