From the Page to the Stage

The accredited teacher training component of WILL ON WHEELS, the Festival has trained 59 elementary, middle, and high school teachers in Kentucky, Indiana, Arizona, Florida, Pennsylvania, and New Mexico. Developed in 1991 in conjunction with Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington D.C., From the Page to the Stage is modeled after the Library’s highly acclaimed teacher training program. In 1993 the Folger Shakespeare Library designated From the Page to the Stage as an exemplary program, one of only three demonstration sites in the United States, and in 1994 the Kentucky Humanities Council designated From the Page to the Stage an exemplary program.

Summer Institute for Teachers

A three-day summer institute for teachers, elementary through college level, which incorporates performance techniques, history, social customs, literature, language arts, visual arts, and performing arts. Institute participants work with theatre professionals and Master Teachers in lecture/demonstration and performance workshops on period manners, movement and dance, Shakespeare’s language, choral techniques and blocking and staging scenes. Includes performances of the Kentucky Shakespeare Festival’s summer season plus an Elizabethan banquet. Meets Kentucky KERA learner goals & eliminates Shakesfear in teachers and students. One, Two & Three Day Workshops

Shortened versions of summer institute content tailored to individual needs. Available to school districts. individual schools and English/drama/language arts faculties.

Student Scene Festival

One-day performance festival celebrating the accomplishments of students who have studied Shakespeare through performance. Each spring over 300 students come together to stage and view a wide variety of scenes.

ACT–ivating Multiple Intelligences through Drama

Learn to explore multiple intelligences through self–evaluation and application; to explore the basic elements of drama/theatre; and to create individual and group drama pieces.

Workshops are offered in 1.5 hour, 3 hour, or 6 hour sessions.

C.R.E.A.T.E. – Creative Resources for Education and Teaching Enhancement

C.R.E.A.T.E. offers a six hour integrated-arts professional development workshop using theatre, dance/movement, music, and visual arts to teach core curriculum areas for kindergarten through high school teachers. The day culminates with teachers participating in an integrated-arts performance event.
