Kentucky Shakespeare Festival
Artist-in-Residency Program

Kentucky Shakespeare Festival’s artist–in–residency program assists teachers by incorporating performance based teaching techniques into the core curriculum and daily classroom activities. All residencies address the Content Standards of the National Standards for Arts Education and the following KERA Academic Expectations: 2.22, 2.23, 2.24, 2.25, 2.26, and 2.27.


SAMPLE RESIDENCIES
One week

Includes an introduction to basic creative dramatic skills and vocabulary.

Five classes of thirty students each — three days per week

Total of 15 hours of artist activity.

Base cost: $1,500.00
(Outside a two hour drive radius of Louisville, this cost does not include housing, per diem, and travel mileage costs.) Administrative costs: 10% of total
Three weeks

Includes an introduction to basic creative dramatics skills, vocabulary and on–demand writing exercises based on performance activities.

Five classes of thirty students each — two days per week

Total of 30 hours of artist activity.

Base cost: $3,000.00
(Outside a two hour drive radius of Louisville, this cost does not include housing, per diem, and travel mileage costs.) Administrative costs: 10% of total
Six weeks

Includes an introduction to basic creative dramatic skills and vocabulary resulting in the creation of group performance.

Five classes of thirty students each — two days per week

Total of 60 hours of artist activity.

Base cost: $6,000.00
