About  Kentucky Shakespeare Festival

The Kentucky Shakespeare Festival enhances community life by providing accessible, professional, classical theatre and quality education touring programs. The Kentucky Shakespeare Festival, more than any other professional arts organization in Kentucky, continues to serve the underserved, as well as the middle and upper social and financial strata of our community.

The cornerstone of the Festival is its Summer Schedule. The performances are offered completely free of charge and are held in the C. Douglas Ramey Amphitheater located in inner city Central Park in the heart of Old Louisville's historic preservation district. This outdoor amphitheater seats up to 1,000 audience members, with additional seating available on the lawn right and left of the stagehouse.

The Festival's average summer attendance is 10,000 people each season. In the last thirty–nine years, over one half million people have enjoyed the Festival’s one hundred and nine summer productions.
